Special requirements must be described individually

With sensitive components, terms such as ESD, cleanroom or sterilisation often come up. They stand for different questions. One property does not automatically prove another. The standard MFP versions are designed for storage, transport and cleaning; an ESD, cleanroom or sterilisation approval is not part of the standard. If your application has such requirements, we clarify them specifically with you.

ESD: electrical properties are decisive

With electrostatically sensitive components, the electrical behaviour of the carrier can be relevant. The selection must fit your company’s protection concept. A dark colour, a plastic material or use in electronics production is not proof in itself. Ask for the specific properties and associated tests of the selected version.

Cleanroom: the actual environment counts

“Cleanroom-suitable” is an incomplete description without further details. What is needed are the conditions of the application and the relevant acceptance criteria. These can include aspects of material, cleaning, handling or particle release. Name your operational requirement instead of just copying a keyword into the enquiry.

Don’t equate cleaning and sterilisation

A carrier that has been assessed for a particular cleaning process is not automatically suitable for sterilisation. Process, temperature, duration and other conditions can differ. Suitable evidence must be available for the specific task. A general reference to medical or dental technology does not replace this assessment.

Documentation requirements

State product revision, material requirement and the planned process. Describe which documents your company needs and who assesses them. If a customer specification exists, it should be mentioned explicitly in the enquiry. This allows early clarification of whether the required information is available.

A sensible enquiry in five points

  • Which component is to be held?
  • Which specific sensitivity or specification applies?
  • In which process is the carrier used?
  • Which tests and documents are required?
  • Who gives the application-specific approval?

Special carrier or standard pallet?

For electronics and other sensitive production, there are specially designed workpiece carriers, for example made of conductive plastics. Such properties must be proven for the specific product – they cannot be transferred from one carrier to another. Describe your requirement and we will tell you openly whether an MFP version is an option.

If a prerequisite is not proven

Record the requirement as open. Only with suitable information or an agreed test can a decision be made on further use. Systematic clarification protects planning from being built on an incorrect assumption.

MFP in medical technology

For medical technology, MFP pallets can be retrofitted with an RFID chip for tracking the parts. This supports complete documentation in the process. It does not imply ESD properties, cleanroom suitability or sterilisability – we clarify these requirements separately.
