Define what is handed over
Besides the part, describe the information: article designation, order or batch, target quantity and approval status. Define whether a pallet arrives fully or partly loaded. The number of pockets is not a reliable substitute for an actual quantity check.
Try out removal in practice
For manual packing, accessibility and a clear arrangement count. For automated removal, position and gripper must match. Watch the whole route from the pocket into the packaging. This can show whether additional reorientation is needed or sensitive surfaces are touched.
Think about partial quantities
Not every order ends with a completely emptied pallet. Define a clear place and label for remaining parts. Describe whether they are returned, topped up or assigned to a follow-up order. Without this rule, a visually tidy carrier can still lead to unclear stock.
Keep the inspection status at the handover
If only approved parts may be packed, this status must remain recognisable at the station. Define who hands over the information and what happens if labelling is missing or contradictory. A different colour or storage position can help, but does not replace a consistent operational rule.
Separate in-house pallet and shipping solution
Suitability for packaging feed does not prove suitability as sole shipping packaging. External transport may involve additional loads and protection requirements. So describe exactly where the pallet’s job ends. Any necessary outer packaging must be planned separately.
Organise returns simply
Empty carriers should not be confused with remaining parts or blocked pallets. Define a return location, checks and, where necessary, cleaning. The time this takes is part of cycle planning. A clear return process can make availability more visible than just counting newly purchased carriers.
A short work instruction as the result
Summarise the sequence of arrival, inspection, removal, handling of remaining quantities and return on one page. Use real pictures of the approved loading. Check that it is understandable with the people who actually carry out the process.
